Dendrobium anosum
Dendrobium anosum
The beautiful pink-purple flowers of Dendrobium anosum let us know that Spring is finally here! This species is beloved by our Filipino and Hawaiian customers, who know it as "sanggumay" and as "hono-hono", respectively, and remember its beauty and fragrance from their hometowns. The complex fragrance reminds us of entering an expensive candle or soap store. It is a species that likes it Wintertime temperatures 'just so': mildly cool. Not warm, not cold, but 'just so'. For this species to thrive and bloom it must be provided with this mild cool Winter, when home heating is often too warm and even Southern Californian Winter is too cold; providing this mildly cool Winter is the trick for success with this plant!

One determined SoCal customer of ours, born in Hawaii, figured out that her hono-hono bloomed best if for the winter-half of the year it grew in an attached closed garage, near a closed window!
Please note that like most deciduous Dendrobiums this plant must be provided a 'Winter drought period', when it is allowed to dry out completely between light waterings.

Established blooming size seedlings. 'Seedlings' are the offspring of pollination; as siblings they may be similar, yet each is unique and no two are identical in precise color or shape.

Dendrobium Aussie Fireflies
Dendrobium Aussie Fireflies
These zesty, little flowers are yellow and bronze with dark stripes and a lime-green tint, with minutely ruffled and patterned cream-colored lips, and certainly deserve the twinkling charm of their name! The flowers bloom in clusters throughout the compact, pendant foliage of the plant. This hybrid of resilient Australian Dendrobiums is a great plant for both beginners and collectors of miniatures or "wild-looking" orchids. It makes a particularly beautiful specimen in a hanging basket.

Dendrobium Australian Goldrush
Arching plumes of blossoms in golden-yellow hues! We’re expecting great things from this cross between our Dendrobium speciosum fma. grandiflorum ‘SanBar Golden Galaxy’ AM/AOS and the full-flowered complex-hybrid Dendrobium Yondi Tina ‘Goliath’ FCC/AOC. This Australian Dendrobium cross was originally made by David Francis Butler of Australia. The first bloomers have been full flowered medium yellow, and the foliage is particularly attractive, adding to year-round interest. We are unsure yet if they will be fragrant like their species parent. Excellent light-loving, outdoor growing companion for Cattleyas and Cymbidiums.

Please note that the plant example photo shows a single lead-growth plant; double lead-growth plants are also available while supply lasts.

Dendrobium bullenianum
A subtle splash of color for the indoor collection is just what this Philippine species delivers: small tidy clusters of little yellow-orange flowers bloom towards the tips of the slender deciduous canes. As the plant grows, new canes grow longer and longer and begin to cascade; so for the long-term, this plant grows best in a hanging basket. A special note particular to this charming deciduous species: it thrives best supplied with year-round watering, which is very peculiar among deciduous Dendrobiums.

The foliage typically stands between 6 to 8 inches tall. One of the most resilient, compact, and easy to grow orchids. Great for the miniature orchid collection, or an excellent companion plant to Cymbidiums and Cattleyas!

Flowers with crystalline white blossoms take after Den. Ise, while flowers with dark centers or fuchsia-pink tint take after Den. Super Ise. Great either potted or in hanging baskets.

Dendrobium tetragonum
Dendrobium tetragonum
For those with a love of the unusual this is one of the all time favorite species. The handsome, vanilla-scented flowers are just one of its charms: this orchid is one of a select few that is also admired solely for the plant itself: uncommon, compact-growing at the base, excellent in hanging baskets, and utterly distinctive!

The species is named for its signature, unique foliage, and the key feature: cascading, slender, pseudobulbs that have squared, angular edges, ending in a tuft of leaves. Hence "tetragonum", for the square pseudobulb Dendrobium!

Established blooming-size seedlings. 'Seedlings' are the offspring of pollination; as siblings they may be similar, yet each is unique and no two are identical in precise color or shape.
