The 'snake-headed' pleurothallid as named by Lindley in 1838 (from Greek, ophidian = snake, cephalus = head). "...so similar to the head of a snake with the jaws open..." - Lindley.
This purple-flowered color form produces richly colorful, burgundy-purple blooms. Blooms intermittently throughout the year, blossoming from the leaf nodes of both new and old leaves.

Warm to Intermediate. January - February blooming. Species from Mexico to Costa Rica.
