A peppy, primary hybrid between Laelia rupestris, one of the rupiculous (rocky crevice grower) Brazilian species, and Laelia anceps, a hardy Mexican species. Its super-compact foliage supports a cluster of bright purple-lavender flowers atop straight, slender stems. When in bloom the overall height of the plant is approximately eighteen inches, with the foliage typically no more than 10 inches tall.
For those of you interested in up-to-date classification, this is currently a Laeliocattleya, since the rupiculous Brazilian parent has been reclassified as Cattleya rupestris (syn. Laelia).
Temperature Tolerant. January - February blooming.
