The 'Type Species' for the Cymbidium genus! Originally described in 1703 as Epidendrum aloifolium is was transferred by Swartz in 1799 into a brand-new genus: Cymbidium! Horticulturally, it is appreciated for its cascading spike habit, Spring to Summer bloom season, and heat tolerance. Unique to this simulans variety the flowers of this plant have a burgundy stripe over a cream base color, while most members of this species have a green base-color. This simulans variety also tends to bloom regularly under typical Cymbidium conditions, but the other members of the species only flower well with indoor/intermediate conditions. .Temperature Tolerant.
