This intriguing species, the range of which spans across both sub-tropical and temperate Southern Brazil, grows well both outdoors and in intermediate conditions. It has remained vigorous even when our unheated shadehouse dropped in temperature to 28 degrees! Its delicate flowers are white and burgundy, and produce a light, tangy scent. Another remarkable quality of this species is its "reaching" growth habit: its dainty pseudobulbs connect with long, slender rhizomes that often arch out and down allowing the root clusters to cascade in the air! Because of this it makes a gorgeous specimen either cascading down from a hanging basket, or when trained up and across a fence! Ours have been grown in hanging pots, but should easily transplant. .Cool to Intermediate. February blooming. Species from Southern Brazil.
